Default Unhappy with idea of GW2.

Ok, I searched on about 3 terms I could think of and found no posts. Likely these threads are getting nuked.....

Before nuking this, at least read it. Afterall, Arenanet doesn't want to hear from us directly, they want us to post issues to fansites like this for the public to discuss. So I am doing exactly what Arenanet wants.

I can't possibly be the only person unhappy with the whole thought of effectively losing everything I've worked for when they move over to GW2. I mean, why should I continue gaining titles when so far, Anet says they will provide something, but nothing that can give an advantage in the game. Sure, I'm not as much of a title hound as some people are, nor do I collect greens, but why should I bust my backside trying to collect all of the elite skills in all three continents?

And for that matter, I have bought enough extra character slots, ON TWO ACCOUNTS, to allow for 1 of each profession and 1 or 2 mules!!! Why should I continue progressing multiple characters through a game that will soon mean nothing?

Yes, the game engine could use some updates. But roll that into what is already there. Or at least come out with some sort of official word on why I should want to keep playing GW, and buy GW:EN. Which as of right now, until they clarify a lot of things to me, is a definite DO NOT BUY on my list.

So come on people. NO flames. But voice your objection to losing everything that you have worked for so far in GW!

What's wrong with starting all over again? They are giving you brand new content, take it as a new game, no one gets a certain advantage in a new game, that wouldn't be fair.

You can still play Guild Wars, no need to switch to GW2.

Your account will always be there to play and admire.

This way we get two Guild Wars, the one we love, and a more WoW'ish but completely unique (and no monthly fee's!) game!

Hey isen't this the whole concept of this game ? It's not about equipment like in WOW, u don't have 2 be 1 of those grinding the game. This game is all about skills and talents of the player.

well if its anything like me its more or less like many many many hours (in my case about 3k hours) spent for.....hall of monuments and thats it.

i can see the frustration cause its pretty much what turned me off to gw2. i will still buy gw:en for the sake of closure but after that ill probably just give my account to a friend or somethin.

from Gailes perspective (what she has said in game and i think in a couple posts) is "well you didnt get to keep your diablo characters for diablo II or your everquest characters" etc etc something along those lines. which is true but why oh why must it be like that? god if another MMO jumped off the bridge would yall do it too.....oh wait......>_> HA! i made a funny. anyrate.

what actually kinda blows my mind is we (who have been there from the beginning anyways) have survived basically the apocalypse of ascalon, defeated a lich king (and for those of us who play WoW the lich kings tend to be uber) and titans AND mursaat that could literally melt your face off AAAND more titans AAaaaAaaaND became chosen by the gods, can see dead people, have been killed and resurrected endless times, brought back by envoys to destroy a ghost that destroyed half of cantha, defeated the armies of varesh and varesh herself in a margonite form of uberness and ultimately killed a friggin god, can pass in and out of the realms of the gods at whim....but time travel is just a weeeee bit out of reach. im sorry but WTFF!11!1!!!!!1!!!eLeVeNtYoNe!1!!!!

but i digress.... i just dont like to spend tons upon tons of hours just for it all to be completely futile. that is kinda like a slap in the face....of course makin new characters and traveling to new lands and seeing new landscapes and whatnot are awesome but god damn it...look at the half covered face of my ranger...

<-----------------

how can i go on without that i mean really =(

While I'm sure that may be a viable option at first, I highly doubt that ANet will do much if anything after, say, a year of GW2 being out. Perfect example is what WoW/Blizzard did to Diablo 2's online aspect. Updates and fixes ground to a halt. At least with other games, Like the CoH/V franchise and WoW, the new updates add content and higher level areas, or even add whole new dimensions to the game. You never 'have' to start all over on those.

I guess, by looking at some of these replies, my point was mostly missed. Which is: Why grind away earning titles and leveling characters, when the majority of it will be rendered meaningless in the future? I don't want a new game to start over in, I want more enhancements and expansions for the game I have already accomplished so much in.

Such is life, sure in WoW you didn't have to start again, but all the gear you worked so hard for was replaced by the most common items.

In any game an expansion will bring better items skills etc and thus ruin old ones, however GW2 sounds like a completely diffrent game. And should be something looked forward to.

Don't buy GW2 then. I for one am glad nothing can be transfered. A clean break will mean new challenges.

As for your grind comment; nobody forced you to grind for titles and I'll laugh hard if you think getting to level 20 is "grind". Getting to level 70 in WoW is grind because it takes a long time (for a non-addicted player) but level 20 in GW can be achieved within a few hours.

Guild Wars won't get anymore Sorrows Furnace sized updates, most of Anets attention will be on GW:EN and GW2 now.

1. its a VIDEO GAME

2. MMO games dont last forever, and neither does peoples intrest in them. You have to face it, no mater what you do in the game, one day you will have to bid your characters goodbye.

Everything was getting way too overwhelming for newcomers anyway.

When did grinding away for titles/whatever ever have any meaning?
It's a game.
Play it and have fun.
As with everything it will come to an end.

I myself think it's a nice idea, because till today, it's too much content in game, so new players will take the same time as some one that started playing scince the first day, and that is pretty unfair imo, making this game a game where time spent does count.

These posts are always pathetic.

GW2 will be a NEW GAME. There is NO guarantee that the current classes will even EXIST anymore, let alone have the same skills (I can guarantee you they won't). There is no proof that items will be build on the same prefix/suffix/inscription system, that any items will have the same skins or stats, or that any armor will carry over.

Get the hell over yourself. Could you port characters from Diablo 1 to Diablo 2? No! Because they were completely different games. You should be collecting gold and items to improve your current enjoyment of Guild Wars, not for some far off game just so you can gloat and rub your millions of plat in the faces of new players (not to mention this would destroy the economy right from the start). If you don't like it, keep playing GW1, and don't buy GW2. We won't miss you.

I really didn't like the idea of GW2 when I first heard about it either. They annouced it right around April Fools, so I was hoping it was a joke to be honest.

But, there are a lot of things in GW that need a lot of impovement, which is why I'm sure they decided they needed a whole new game. I know if that I won't miss things like rubber banding and getting obstructed messages on stairs and ramps.

I just hope they stick with a low level cap instead of this silly high one they are thinking about. Skill based MMOs are ftw, not grinding.

I will miss my titles D:

and..and...I'LL MISS MY SIN *wails*

but i used to play RO (Ragnarok Online) and I spent a lot of time and energy getting random stuff and then I quit. I miss it but meh. It was more or less a way to keep me playing.

Same with the titles. I'd be on my PS2 beating like 10 games I"ve left hanging if it weren't for the need to vanquish all 3 campaigns and such o_O Titles just keep me going. And aren't your titles and stuff like...recorded or something in the monument thingie? It's been a while since I looked at this stuff so I could be really really wrong (and if I am don't be mean D:;; just inform me again x_X; ) That would be cool...have like a little plaque or stone pedestal that gives the information of that character...then it wouldn't be in vain.

Titles are my only gripe about the transfer (AND MY SIN *wails*) But oh well. New game. New start. It's all shiney and new ^-^
